For distance learning, telecourses include something like a videotaped lecture that you view on the internet. Some even include a webinar, which is a live seminar you watch on the internet. All of this material is used to supplement the textbook for the course.

Telecourses cover the same basic material as the traditional campus courses. However, there are different methods of instructional delivery and attendance requirements. Some will require you to meet a few times over the course of the semester.

Similar to online courses, telecourses are not for everyone. You must be self motivated in your studies and extremely good at time management. You must also be able to work independently, with little instruction from the professor. Telecourses are a great option for busy adults. They give you a certain amount of control over the pace of your learning. If you don’t understand something the first time, you can rewind the tape and view it again, something you can’t do with traditional lectures. If you are looking for a different way to earn your degree, telecourses may be just the thing for you.
